I have always been interested in the way the body has the ability to heal itself given proper therapy, so pursuing a career where I assist the body in healing is naturally where my curiosity brought me. After successfully graduating from an intensive two year massage therapy program at CDI College in 2003, I went on to earn my license and registration through the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario and started my career as a Registered Massage Therapist.
My interests have continually guided my studies with advanced courses in Scapular release, deep tissue and sports massage, Trigger point therapy, Myofascial release, and Craniosacral therapy. I have a special interest in Myofascial release therapy, Craniosacral therapy and often adapt these techniques into my treatments.
Myofascial release therapy is a technique that concentrates on the fascial layers of connective tissue releasing restriction of both superficial and deeper structures to eliminate pain and restore motion to the body. Craniosacral therapy is a very soft touch method of treatment working on the bony attachments of the cranium and sacrum, pulling the fascia to alleviate any restrictions that might have accumulated due to injuries or illnesses. This therapy improves the health of the brain and spinal cord, which in turn, affects the whole body.
My goal is to promote healing in the muscles through a combination of firm and soft touch treatment which reduces aches and pains to bring my clients to a state of rest and relaxation.
As a therapist I keep active in the community by organizing and presenting at The Running Room, Goodlife Fitness Centers and various employers on sports injuries; prevention and treatment; delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS); trigger points; pain and postural problems; as well as educating the public on the general benefits of regular massage therapy treatment.
When people get regular massage treatments it helps rejuvenate and restore balance to their bodies leaving them with a pain free, relaxed feeling that carries over into everyday life.
